dōTerra Essential Oils

What are essential oil? Where do they come from? Essential oils are found in the bark, seeds, flowers, roots and other areas of plants. They contribute to the development and overall wellbeing of plants, and have been used for centuries for their natural health benefits in various ways. Once extracted, essential oils are highly concentrated and can be used aromatically, topically and internally.

Nowadays, essential oils seem to be everywhere and you can easily find them at most grocery stores; especially more natural leaning stores such as Whole Foods and Harry's. I’ve dabbled in essential oil use for many years and have had lavender, peppermint and tea tree oil in my house for as long as I can remember! However, it wasn’t until a friend introduced me to dōTerra that I really began to incorporate essential oils into my everyday life, first as a mother, and subsequently in my doula work.

So, many people ask, why the switch to dōTerra? Well, the first time I compared a bottle of peppermint that I had purchased at the grocery store to a bottle of dōTerra’s peppermint I knew there was something different about these oils! One of the main reasons for this is the purity and potency of dōTerra compared to store bought brands. dōTerra classifies their oils as certified pure therapeutic grade (CPTG) which means that the final product is free from any fillers, alcohols, gmo's, additives, parabens or pesticides. It's beyond organic. You can read more in depth about dōTerra’s testing procedures here.

When it comes to pregnancy, birth and family, essential oils have the ability to positively affect overall mental, physical and emotional health. Many of the most common ailments of pregnancy, including nausea, fatigue, anxiety, heartburn, and stress can all be addressed with various essential oils.

For a thorough look at essential oil use during this period, I highly recommend Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth and Babies, by Stephane Fritz, LM, CPM.

Current clients are welcome to borrow this book from my lending library.

If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it"
