Hiring Latoya was one of the best (and most important) decisions we could have made. This was our first child and we weren’t quite sure where to begin. I wanted a have natural child birth and figured we may need some assistance. I knew it would require some preparation mentally and physically. We were also in the middle of moving into a new house, new jobs and the holidays, so life was incredibly hectic and that is when I started searching for a Doula. Having another person on our "team" to help speak and advocate for us definitely made us feel more secure in the decisions that we ended up making.

 

Her passion, enthusiasm and nurturing energy were immediately evident. After our initial consultation we knew Latoya was going to be our doula. We trusted without any doubt that she would provide us with the support that we needed to be confident in the decision to have a natural child birth. She worked around our schedule to meet with us at our home. Always prompt and thorough, Latoya made sure we were educated on any and all situations that could arise during labor. She was on call 24/7 for any questions, assisted with the creation of a birth plan, provided birthing classes and support for both of us.

 

After days past the expected due date, we finally went to the hospital at 3 AM on 12/29/15 and she was right there to meet us. She was there through the early morning hours and the whole delivery day. It was comforting to see a familiar face to help guide us through. Whether it was juice runs, managing family members, advising medical staff or helping me through contractions Latoya was ready to assist wherever needed. Pain changes things and during labor, her calm presence, soft tone and caring demeanor were extremely encouraging. She coached me through labor and made sure that our birth plan was followed per my wishes and when things did not go as ideally planned Latoya continued to provide support and reassurance. She also did a lot of the little things that went unnoticed but made a huge difference. She also was great in helping Dad be the best support person he could be. I was especially grateful for the care that we also received postpartum with breastfeeding and all the great pictures.

 

Having Latoya as our doula was an amazing and wonderful decision. It made the entire journey so much easier. She went above and beyond to help ease me into the role of mom and I will be eternally grateful.
